Each week we never think that we can top the week’s previous Moronic Monday and yet we always seem to find something that takes our incredulity to new heights. At the very least I find new and wonderful ways to make Sean question the human race and why we are still propagating this planet.
Oh and we (or at least me) bought a couple domains but you’ll have to listen to the show to find out what they are.
There’s a lot of talk starting to hit the web about the announcement from Google and Verizon about their belief in an open Internet – which is contrary to what everyone was stupidly speculating about last week. From Marshall Kirkpatrick at ReadWriteWeb:
Google and Verizon are completing a press call right now announcing their joint legislative framework proposal: network transparency and FCC enforcement with up to $2 million fines for network providers that engage in anti-competitive measures that hurt consumers. This is the exact opposite of what reports last week speculated the companies were working on.
Funnily enough both companies are talking about how fat pipes are necessary for innovation:
Both companies are talking the innovation-talk, saying that fat, unfettered pipes will lead to more innovation that will make the pie bigger for everyone involved.
Ummm … gee .. isn’t this what I have said more time than I can shake a stick at both here and with Sean on the Braindead TechCast?
But then of course we’re no-body’s .. nobody’s who seem to be more right than wrong about what we’ve said and written.
Yes folks it’s that time of the week – Techmeme Friday and all the hilarity that it entails which some weeks is more than others. On that scale this week is pretty good with plenty of sacrificial headlines to be slaughter on the alter of punditry.
Some of the headlines from this week’s Techmeme that came under pointed ribbing.
Well the show starts out pretty normal with both Sean and I taking turns at ripping into some of the news of today but then at some point we suddenly found ourselves out in left field and decided to stay there. Which was actually a lot of fun.
As much fun as Sean and I have doing the Moronic Monday episode of the podcast we kind of expect that the rest of the week will give us enough non-stupid things to talk about. Unfortunately today wasn’t the case as we seemingly got hit with a double dose of really stupid things and we had no choice but to share.
So in the spirit of sharing here is some of the headlines that contributed to today’s hang-over from Moronic Monday.
Oh boy, do Sean and I have some moronic wonderfulness for you in tonight’s show folks. Everything from the little piggy that went to market to a couple of listener contributions that has one leaving me almost speechless.
So without any further ado here are the stories that surpassed our moronic metter for the past week.
