Growth, both personal and career wise takes many forms as well as occurring in ways that we might never thought of. As I’ve been going through my back posts during cleaning up after importing them it is interesting to see how my thoughts and opinions have grown; or outright changed, during the almost four years of blogging. It is easy to see now why I was getting that gut feeling that WinExtra as it was no longer was representative of what I write about now.
As such this move to a new name and domain isn’t so much about a rebranding but also about following where my personal and writing growth is taking me. While the direction of my writing might be becoming more concentrated in specific areas the original cranky old fart attitude hasn’t changed. That attitude is a core part of me and the way I look at things and as such my writing will always be laced with a strong dose of realism and understanding that comes from being in this business for as long as I have been.
What you will find here will be my thoughts and opinions about ideas, concepts and services that fly under the Web 2.0 and social media flag. As well I will always be on the look out for new technologies that could have an impact on our lives. This is where my interests are and where I find myself enjoying what I write. By moving to a new name and domain that I feel better reflects this it is my hope that I will be able to be more focused on these things.
I just want to take a moment and give a shout-out to a couple of people who helped me go through this change with words of encouragement and honesty. First off to Chris Brogan I just want to thank you for taking the time to truly help out a fellow blogger the way you have. It was with your help that I was able to finally figure out where my direction lay which in turned also helped me come up with the new name. High five bud – thanks.
As well as Chris my good friend Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins has been there from the beginning of the process always willing to let me bounce ideas and thoughts off of him. Even when I know I was probably irritating him while he was trying to get work done he always answered my IM pestering. Thanks Mark – your help and suggestion are always appreciated.
The one other person who has been of help even when he was busy was Alexander van Elsas who in my opinion is one of the smartest people around. Much thanks to you as well Alexander.
Now I still have some touching up to do around the site but hopefully you will like what you see and make this blog a part of your regular reading as you did for WinExtra. Don’t forget as well to grab the RSS feed so you won’t miss any posts from this point on. At some point over the weekend I’ll do a wrap up post about the ins and outs of the actual moving to a new domain.
For now though thanks for following me to my new home and I really look forward to hearing from all of you in the comments of future posts. One last note – my email address is now steven @ shootingatbubbles . com so please update your contact information for me if needed.

Shooting at Bubbles… is that anything like fishing with dynamite? LOL
Seriously though, the more I think about the name the more I realize how clever it is. Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve as you move forward. Loving the shiny new layout too.

Thanks Frederic. the name can take a bit of getting use to but I really like it – gives me a lot more room that WinExtra did

That is one reason why I went with this name because it does leave itself open for me to do a lot of different things but still keep that cranky old fart attitude.

As long as it doesn't end up being a pop pop fizz fizz oh what a relief it is experience, but it sounds like most of the transition is done. Like the name.
