A personal note of thanks

ruby_sharing_couch One of the privileges of having your own blog rather than writing exclusively for others is that it allows you to include some personal thoughts at  a time of the year like now. As we head into a new year that many are expressing worry about I look forward to it with a real hope that I haven’t had for a long time. This is a hope and a feeling of well being that has been lacking for much of the past few years.

While not the most important (that one will come in a minute or two) I want to thank Duncan Riley at The Inquisitr for being willing to hire a cranky old fart. While much of the tech blogosphere is centered around the warm and fuzzy goodness of things like Web 2.0 and social media Duncan gives me the freedom; and the rapidly growing platform, to poke as many holes in that hot air balloon as I like. Thanks Duncan

Not a year can go by here at WinExtra that I can’t say thank you many time to all the people who have made our Community Forums their home on the web all these years. Truly without them and their support WinExtra would not be where it is today. I am forever in their debt for their belief and support of my dreams for WinExtra and its forums as well. Thank you to all.

kim-steven_small But finally none of this wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for one single person in my life. Without the continued support of my wife; Kim, none of all these good things in my life would have happened to the degree that they have. Nor would they have the value that they do. What makes this even more heart warming is that Kim is as about as computer illiterate as one can be so the patience she has with my many hours in front of this beast is for a testament to her love and understanding of a dream.

I must be rubbing off on her though after all these years because she has expressed a real desire in this next year to change that illiteracy which means she’ll be getting a laptop before I do (LOL) but it will be great to see her grow in a new area. As well we are both looking forward to being able to finally afford to get the required paperwork of past mistakes corrected and finally get married this years. To my wife (wife to be) my heartfelt love and thanks for believing in me for these past 15 years.

Lastly there is one group that without their support none of the great things of 2008 would have happened or make the upcoming year of 2009 one full of promise. That group is you  - my readers. Whether it be here at WinExtra or The Inquisitr or at the reborn braincell soup you are my driving force that makes me want to share my thoughts – cranky or not. For that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Here’s to a great 2009 – regardless of the naysayers.

Thank you.
