For some time now idiotic USB gadgets have been all the rage and fodder for more than one post in the tech blogoshere. Since the iPhone and now the gPhone the USB silliness could find itself thrown from the throne of stupid ideas for wasting good technology.
With the iPhone inanity had to have started with the $999.00 app that did nothing more that display a graphic of a red dot on your iPhone background - wow - color me impressed. What was even worse was that there were some people who actually bought it before Apple removed it.
Now along come the gPhone err Andriod G1 being sold by T-Mobile with its version of the Apple App Store called Android Market. Not to be outdone by some of the silliiness on the App Store you can now download Punch-O-Meter for your Anroid phone. Just in case you are curious about what this fantastic addition to mobile computing does it works something like this
You grasp the phone (firmly) in your hand, tap the screen, and then give it your best shot. The app uses the phone’s accelerometer to measure how fast you can punch. After each punch, you get a score and a one-to-five-star rating. It is guaranteed to destroy your phone.
Let me get this straight - you punch your phone? Are you frikken serious? You’ve just spent a couple of hundred dollars on a phone and now you’re gonna start punching the daylights out of it - this is stupid. Plain stupid.
But hey you can get the same thing for the iPhone as well so when you are picking up the pieces of your Android phone you can switch over to smacking the shit out of your $400.00 iPhone. Weeee .. isn’t that fun.
