Over my time of writing a blog and running the WinExtra forums I always get up each day looking forward to what might be waiting for me in my email, on the forums or even in the referrer logs and comments of the blog. You never know what will come out of that mishmash of info as you sip a morning coffee; or two, that while put a smile on your face or raise the blood pressure to ranting levels.
Today; well yesterday now I guess
, was one of those days for me where cool things happened all because of one single post in the WinExtra forums by a member. The first part I wrote about earlier in my post about bla.st and their interesting visual search; but it was my posting of that which lead into another chance meeting and a story to tell.
As a result of listing WinExtra with bla.st I had a new member register with our forums and as is our custom of greeting new members I found out that he was part of a team that also had a unique twist on visual search. Enter egaroo.com and the Web Banner Search Engine … ahyup those bottom and top of page graphic banners we all try so hard to ignore.
Part of egaroo.com’s why is:
That’s why egaroo’s goal is to become an on-line community of businesses, independent professionals and individuals with the opportunity to compete under the same conditions, leaving aside boring adwords or expensive banner campaigns designed only to those able to pay the most or with larger budgets.
Followed by the how:
Egaroo is open to everyone: bloggers, free lance writers, pop and mom e-businesses, architects, big corporations, music studios, independent music bands, eco tourism lodges, movies, web design studios… you name it. At the end Egaroo will be seen as the most comprehensible, open and innovative Free search engine/directory to find anything you could need or imagine.
In our 468 x 60 pixels banners your brand, service or message will be displayed clearly so our visitors can quickly see what your business is all about, making easy for them to decide whether or not they are interested in visiting your site
And on top of that the folks behind the venture are nice and friendly which makes it all a bonus. So, all in one day I have found two really cool services, met some nice people and seen my own community grow a little more.
This is why blogging and the internet are fun.
