If there is one thing that technology and especially Web 2.0 is well known for it is the over abundance of conferences that one could attend at any point in the year. I’ve poked fun at them in the past and not so much because of the conferences themselves but the sheer number of them. After all it seems in many cases you could spend more time going to these conferences than you could spend doing any actual work.
But no matter how much I might poke fun at the whole scene I also realize after reading posts by my good friends Louis Gray and Mark ”Rizzn” Hopkins; both of whom are attending this years SxSW, that being able to attend even one conference like SxSW a year would be really cool. Not so much for what you can pick up from all the various panels and meetings but more for the very simple fact that you could finally meet face to face those folks you have called friends for years online.
Regardless of all the other mediums we use to communicate with one another nothing beats being able to shake a friend’s hand and say hello. For me that would be the greatest pleasure.

Steven, as you know, this is something I don't do often. BlogWorld Expo was really the first time I went out and spoke on behalf of this weird little site called louisgray.com. I'm glad to have the opportunity to participate at SXSW and meet many of the folks who have lived in my e-mail, FriendFeed and Twitter for some time. Meeting you as well would be a delight, even if you had your full crank on. Let's make sure it happens.
