You have to wonder if Robert Scoble even has time to breathe

There is no getting away from the fact that the man is both an enigma and a lightening rod within the tech world on the web. You might notice that I didn’t say in the tech blogosphere and given his shift away from his blogging as in days gone by his influence on the blogosphere isn’t what it was.

That doesn’t change the fact that Robert Scoble isn’t still capable of rubbing some people the wrong way or that his habit of hyperbole has diminished. I say this because of a couple of posts, both by him and another blogger, that I read this morning. The first post written by James at Smalltalk Bits, Industry Rants called into question Robert`s statement that he follows more than 10,000 people on Twitter. It wasn`t so much the number that James was questioning but rather how it was possible for Robert to efficiently fallow and comprehend that kind of number.

Twitter 2.0? Seriously? Can I have your drugs?

shocked I realize that the Twitter wagon is the hot property to be jumping on these days but at what point do we realize that we’re getting too carried away with all our analysis of the company?

Seriously just how much more can we dissect this company and its effect on us and the web? We have everything from a pseudo-science of studying retweets to a never ending conferences on the subject of 140 characters. Then today we have a blogger suggesting that Twitter 2.0 is emerging from the cloud of hype surrounding the company.

Don’t get me wrong Mark Evans is a pretty smart guy and a fellow Canadian (bonus points for that) but I think he’s getting a little carried away with the kool-aid in his post today where he says:

cbslogo300 Considering that the Cynical Bastard’s haven’t received their blackmail money donations to not talk about Twitter this week Sean and Mark decided to end the week with another discussion about the monetization of Twitter.

In light of Twitter’s recent deals with Microsoft’s Bing and Google for access to their fire hose of information both of our cynical bastards take a look back and forward to what Twitter’s monetization – or lack of it as the case may be.
