Other than some silly ass rumor that Twitter is acquiring Summize the first day of the week has been pretty quite in the way of interesting tech news worth writing about. That doesn’t mean that there weren’t a few things of interest in today’s FriendFeed pipeline.

Identical Twins Create Human Mirror on NYC Subway Car [nw] :: Laughing Squid – you can always count on Scott to post some cool stuff and this is no exception. I have seen this post of his bouncing around the blogosphere for most of the day so I’m not alone in thinking this was cool.

Google: Bell Canada Is Breaking The Law [nw] :: Broadband Report – I guess hiring a Canuck as a CFO means you suddenly give a shit about what is happening above the 49th parallel – ya … right.

The Garden Zombie haunts your lawn gnome [nw] :: Coolest Gadgets – just too damn funny to not post

Russian blogger sentenced for “extremist” post [nw] :: Yahoo News – I get a kick out of these warm and fuzzy folks who think that just because it’s the Internet that freedom of speech applies regardless of the country the blogger lives in – get a grip on reality folks.

Stop Calling My Generation Dumb [nw] :: SheGeeks – Corvida lets loose with a great rant that is really worth reading

How English Is Evolving Into a Language We May Not Even Understand [nw] :: wired – English as a spoken and written language is changing whether we want it to or not.

Sorry about the delay but I just finished up a great first podcast with Cyndy and Leslie from Profy.com along with Duncan Riley of The Inquisitr. We all had a great time talking about everything from Twitter and FriendFeed to whether or not the Internet will become a government service. Now with today being a holiday long weekend in the States the news flow wasn’t what it should be but I did find a few things of interest in the FriendFeed pipeline

Blog Comments Aren’t Dead, But Your Activities May Be Keeping Them Away [nw] :: SheGeeks – Corvida has a rather interesting viewpoint as to why blog comments may appear to be going elsewhere.

How do I remove inapproriate searches from my Lijit search cloud? [nw] :: Ask Dave Taylor – bloggers love it when you search their sites but for those using the Lijit service there are times when some of those search terms might be something you don’t want showing up.

Your grocery-store data, shared [nw] :: Ryan Tate – as much as I may not like the invasion of technology in all places this idea does have merit.

Can a freight train really move a ton of freight 436 miles on a gallon of fuel? [nw] Fact Check – I will say I was pretty impressed when I saw the title … that is some serious miles per gallon. Too bad our cars can’t do that.

Well the warm afterglow of yesterday’s Apple event seems to be dissipating as people now turn to look at what this new deal is going to cost them at their local AT&T store. Luckily I don’t need to worry about such things because I’m having a hard enough paying my current phone and DSL bill. In the meantime here’s a few things that caught my eye in today’s FriendFeed pipeline.

Free Edmonton Wireless :: Soliciting Fame – it’s nice to see some initiative coming from the people rather than telecom businesses or government to bring free WiFi to the city of Edmonton. Even though it’s not my most favorite Canadian city I have lived in free WiFi could make it a little more attractive.

Game On: Plurk To Release API Tomorrow :: the Inquisitr – apparently the newest Twitter clone on the street – Plurk – will be releasing a public API for developers tomorrow. Hopefully the first thing on the agenda will be a better desktop client for it.

My Blogging Burnout Experience :: SheGeeks – apparently Corvida suffered a bit of a blogger’s burnout but from what she tells me she’s back to normal with a lot of good stuff in the works.

Last.fm Re-design: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly :: ReadWriteWeb – according to Richard MacManus my favorite music recommendation service is in the middle of beta testing a new site design. Currently only those who have a paid subscription to the service are able to see the new look as it progresses forward.

I’m Thinking About Not Upgrading to the New iPhone When it Comes Out :: Thomas Hawk – apparently not everyone is enthralled with the new iPhone announced yesterday.

Why Cloud Computing Needs Security :: GigaOM – while everyone seems to being all enthused over the idea of cloud computing no-one is talking seriously about the security implications of doing this.

The amazing thing about the human condition is that no matter how many times the llama might spit in your face most of us just wipe it off and keep on trying even though we might at some point begin to wonder why. In the meantime here’s as few things that caught my eye in today’s FriendFeed pipeline.

New Blogging 2.0 Paradigm: What Is It? :: David Risley – even though I thoroughly despise the word paradigm for its obvious over use with anything to do with the web David does give some good points as to what this shift in blogging could mean for us.

Twitter refuses to uphold Terms of Service :: Ariel Waldman – web companies especially love their terms of service (TOS) pages which is where they hide all the legalese that is suppose to help protect you and more importantly protect the company. In the case of Ariel thought she says the TOS isn’t protecting her in the least and it appears that Twitter in now re-writing theirs – to whose benefit I wonder

What College Students Can’t Get From Blogging :: SheGeeks – Corvida has a good post today on what glory and riches college students think blogging is going to bring them. Sounds like a cold shower of reality for them is in store.

20 Most Bizarre Mugshots ever :: Oddee – sure hope none of these folks were in your yearbook or your Facebook friends list.

Continuous Parallel Attention: My New Reality :: Louis Gray – Multi-tasking is so Web 1.0 for Louis … now it’s a whole new thing called continuous parallel attention. In other words multi-tasking your multi-tasking with a side order of coffee.

Get a room! :: FriendFeed – not sure I get the reasoning for this new feature on FriendFeed but the faithful seem to think that sliced bread has some new competition.

The Social Contract Does Not Exist :: Profy – once more Cyndy takes on another of the silly Web 2.0 conventions. Nice going Cyndy and your renewal prescription for your cranky pills is on the way.

Wow – for a little while there I wasn’t sure if I was even going to be able to post one of these tonight. Now though everything should be back to normal so in keeping with tradition (sorta) here’s a few things that caught my eye in today’s FriendFeed pipeline – at least when I wasn’t pulling out my hair.

The Disposable Economy Has to Change :: Mark Evans – an interesting post that takes a look at how the disposable economy might not just be the end all be all it is purported to be. A good read – thanks Mark.

Maybe It’s Time For Twitter To Go “Freemium” :: webomatica – Jason has some good points as to why maybe it is time for Twitter to grow up and get an income stream.

Why You Shouldn’t Hesitate To Ask Twitter For Help :: SheGeeks – my very good friend Corvida relates her experience of coming face to face with a tornado and the worry about asking for help online. Just glad you’re safe good lady.

There May be More of a Social Networking Echo Chamber Then I Thought :: iSeanReiser – a rather pointed question by Sean as to just what and who early adopters and evangelists are talking to.

You know you are bored when you spend half an hour going through your feed reader cleaning out feeds that no longer get updated or you have no interest in any more. Next up maybe some reorganization of categories. In the meantime for those less bored folks here’s a few things that caught my eye in today’s FriendFeed pipeline.

Why Microsoft Live Mesh will fail with early adopters :: scobleizer.com – Robert doesn’t seem to have to high of an opinion of Mesh. Oh well he can’t be right all the time :)

Gmail:2004, Mesh:2008 :: sarahintampa.com – contrary to how Robert feels Sarah Perez (and no she’s not related to that other Perez – Sarah got brains) thinks we could have some interesting times ahead. I tend to agree.

A new players perspective on why social media is not mainstream :: notes, thoughts, ideas and responses – Julian has some interesting thoughts as to why social media hasn’t gone mainstream yet.

To Robert Scoble: Give Me Louis Gray Back! :: SheGeeks – Corvida bemoans the fact that the evil effects of the Scobleizer has hijacked her favorite blogger.

Cleaning House – Online Social Media Style :: Some Assembly Required – Thom relates the reasons for having to get rid of someone from an online life.

Understanding the Value of ‘Friends’ in Social Media Websites :: DoshDosh – a good explanation of how ‘friending’ works in social media and how the concept has value.

Talk about a quiet weekend in the blogosphere. I imagine Gabe is looking over Techmeme hoping for a bitchmeme to develop but it looks like the second weekend in a row where no-one is in an overly bitchy mood. Must have something to so with the warm weather. In the meantime here’s a few things that caught my eye in today’s FriendFeed pipeline.

Life Before Twitter… :: SheGeeks – Corvida asks a very simple question that has more than few people going … hmmmm ….. :)
