cbslogo300 Yes folks it’s that time of the week again when you get to sit back and chill while you listen to this week’s The Cynical Bastards podcast. This is where myself, Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins and Sean P. Aune set about to provide you with your Gillmor’ing of the week.

This week we obviously couldn’t let the whole Twitter – Iran thing go by without something about it sparking one of us into a good rant. The bonus this week was that Mark got to name our second winner of the weekly Dickwad Award (our inaugural winner was Jeremiah Owyang last week).

As well we took apart the coolness and revolutionary rhetoric around Opera’s Unite along with a good discussion on whether Twitter/New Media is finally replacing old media in light of the happenings in Iran.

There was a couple of other things as well including the runner up for the Dickwad of the Week Award but this should get you started for now. so hit the green button and have a listen.

The Cynical Bastards Podcast … we make everyone uncomfortable

cbslogo300 Even in weeks where it would seem there isn’t anything that could attract the attention of The Cynical Bastards we once more prove everyone wrong. This week finds myself, Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins and Sean P. Aune taking potshots at some of the stranger news hitting the web.

This week’s subject list includes

  • the interesting idea of Valleywag offering a vetting consulting service
  • the FTC coming out with a possible ruling that would make bloggers learn legalese in order to put disclosure on posts
  • how the CDC has better numbers about wireless broadband penetration than the FCC
  • Hulu cutting deals with the UK but leaving the rest of the world geotarded
  • an advertiser doesn’t like our name
  • Twitter discovers a business model

The Cynical Bastards Podcast – the ‘Have you been Gillmored today` episode

cbslogo300 It is really good to be back in the podcasting saddle again and it is made even more enjoyable with being able to work with Mark and Sean doing them. This week ended up being a real rib tickler but we did manage to talk about the following stuff:

  • The Kindle DX … it’s not pretty
  • Gillmor and his silly idea that Twitter killed RSS … we’ve invented a new verb for the cleansing of the InterWeb pipes
  • The mess that is RSS readers
  • The background advertising experiment over at The Inquisitr
  • Apple buying Twitter
  • Microsoft buying Twitter
  • CNN buying Twitter
  • YouTube trying out an extortion business plan

All in all it was great fun and I hope you enjoy the Cynical Bastards newest CobWEB podcast episode.

Introducing The Cynical Bastards & CobWeb

cbslogo300 About a month ago my good friend Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins contacted via IM and asked if I would be interested in adding my cranky old fart attitude to a new endeavor that he and Sean P. Aune were putting together. After listening to the idea I jumped at the chance and found myself as the third founding member of The Cynical Bastards network.

Primarily the site is where you can find all of our individual blog posts aggregated for you to be able to get your daily dose of cynicism in one place. there are further plans for the network but those are still in the planning stage.

The one thing that isn’t still in the planning stage is our weekly podcast called CobWeb (Cranky Old Bastards take on the interWEBs). So without further ado here is the launch episode for your listening pleasure.

I am having some problems with the embedding of the MP3 file of the podcast. If it isn’t working for you head over to Talkshoe and you should have no problems listening then
