Braindead TechCast EP 4: Yes, there really are stupid people on the InterWebs

braindead Yes folks, believe it or not there are people out there on the InterWebs who can’t tell the difference between the bright red color scheme of ReadWriteWeb and the bland blue color scheme of Facebook.

It is so amazing that both Sean and myself are stunned and share this subject with some more talk about Google’s Buzz that has drawn some pretty sharp dividing lines within the tech blogosphere.

I want to like Google’s Buzz, Really I do

man-pulling-hair-out-2 For the longest time I have have felt that the ideal social network would be the one that you can build out of your email contacts. Now that Google has done just that I’m not so sure that it is a good idea after all.

All I feel really when I look at Buzz and read what people are writing about it is a sense of confusion and frustration with the experience.

It turns out I’m not alone in this feeling even to the point that Aaron Brazell is calling it a failure.

But just as I have in the past with Twitter, Facebook and Friendfeed I want to be able to use it for a period of time so I can give it a fair assessment.

The only problem with being able to do that: GMail.

I do not like GMail at all.

However, if any of my readers out there happen to know of an extension or GreaseMonkey script for Chrome that lets me change GMail into something more usable then I’ll give Buzz a fair try.

Until then however Buzz will just be an irritating noise.

Braindead Techcast Ep.2: All abuzz about nothing

braindead I’ll give you two guesses about what tonight’s show with myself and Sean is about and the first one doesn’t count.

Yes we do our blogging and podcasting duty as required by our canon of ethics and take a look at the newly announced Google Buzz to see what all the buzz is about. Sadly though we have we little of encouraging thoughts about it due to the fact that we are both on a kool-aid free diet.

Seriously though what is all the buzz about other than the fact that Google has yet another way to get more personal information to sell ads against.

The last part of the podcast is one of us patting each other on the back as once more facts published by a mainstream new source back up our long time contention that the cost of being on the Internet is getting out of hand and not looking to get any better.
