CobWEBs Daily Edition podcast – Twitter: Silicon Valley’s perpetual welfare case

cbslogo300 Considering that the Cynical Bastard’s haven’t received their blackmail money donations to not talk about Twitter this week Sean and Mark decided to end the week with another discussion about the monetization of Twitter.

In light of Twitter’s recent deals with Microsoft’s Bing and Google for access to their fire hose of information both of our cynical bastards take a look back and forward to what Twitter’s monetization – or lack of it as the case may be.

CobWEBs Daily Edition podcast – MySpace has a better chance of recovery than Friendfeed

cbslogo300 Yes this is definitely getting out a little late but between Mark having some problems getting his replacement laptop ready and then Talkshoe deciding that it didn’t want to let the show go posting got delayed.

That said on tonight’s show Mark and I have a bit of a discussion regarding the fact that Friendfeed is a butterfly just waiting to come out of its chrysalis case where it has been hibernating since Facebook bought it. That lead into a relaxed discussion about communities and how bloggers can build one around their own blogging brand.

Enjoy.

CobWEBs Daily Edition podcast – Nook: opening new worlds for content producers

cbslogo300 Doing the hosting honors tonight is Sean P. Aune and Mark "Rizzn” Hopkins, who considering this is two nights in a row he’s actually shown up for hosting duties should have his temperature taken.

On the chopping block tonight is the subject of e-books and the announcement today of Barnes & Noble’s attempt at a Kindle killer – the nook (and yes that is lower case spelling on purpose – or so they say).

The big bone of contention is as usual the price point of the e-reader. For both Mark and Sean it is still above that sweet spot of gadget impulse buying, but it’s getting damn close.

Enjoy the show.

CobWEBs Daily Edition podcast – How time flies when talking tech, politics and stupidity

cbslogo300 Tonight’s show with myself and Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins takes a look at last Friday’s show I did with Sean P. Aune about McCain, Trunk and Jarvis where Mark tries to bring another point of view to the discussion. His feeling being that Sean and I were missing out on the fact that unlike Jarvis the other two stories we talked about were heavily influenced by politics.

As well we take a look at the mommyblogger and her tearful story about the TSA separating her and her baby. As we all now know the story was bogus but we discuss the impact it could have had on blogging if the traditional media hadn’t been so caught in the whole BalloonBoy hoax.

CobWEBs Daily Edition podcast – Sexism is alive and well in social media & blogging

Tonight’s show with myself and Sean P. Aune takes a look at how the idea of free speech in social media and blogging is a big ideal – unless of course you happen to be a woman. From Penelope Trunk’s experience back in September to Megan McCain this past week it seems that when women express or do something that crosses some magical line in the sand they are terrible. As well we proclaim a belief in free speech but when someone write something that people don’t like that is the first thing we want to take away.

CobWEBs Daily Edition podcast: Does this mean we were right – again?

Finally Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins and myself get together for today’s show. We decided that rather than tweet about the show we would actually record it unlike it seems that a lot of bloggers going to BlogWorld Expo. As well we look at all the big boys deciding that maybe the FTC should re-think their new guidelines.

CobWEBs Daily Edition podcast – BREAKING: Microsoft & Danger sabotage Mark’s KFC order

In tonight’s show Sean P. Aune and roving Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins; coming to the show from his local KFC, take on the whole Microsoft and T-Mobile losing of Sidekick user data. As well they take a few shots at some of the sources claiming that it is Microsoft ineptness or sabotage by pissy Danger developers. I also think that both of them were trying out for some stand-up comedy act but that could just have been the smell of chicken grease invading Mark’s head.
