Braindead TechCast EP61: Even we have our tinfoil hat moments

YA! No more Talkshoe.

Yes folks, Sean and I have had enough of trying to constant mess around with Talkshoe on a nightly basis in order to bring this fine informative show. We took the plunge and got the right software in place (Skype and Pamela for Skype) as well as a new home to host our most excellent shows – The Internet Archive.

Now I’m still feeling my way around uploading and setting up our content on The Internet Archive but as soon as we have a page available to show you .. well you’ll be the first to know.

On with what the show is about tonight and what better way than to start with the now famous Zuckerberg and his dumb f*cks IM leaks. Like we didn’t already know he felt this way but confirmation is always nice.

We also spent some time talking about Sarah Lacy and a great post she had on TechCrunch about Brazil and the changes that the Internet is bringing to the poorest of the poor – this is what the Social Web is all about.

As for our tinfoil hat moment – well that had to do with HP, Palm and the coming in October tablet which is suppose to be sporting a tablet form of the webOS.

Braindead TechCast EP60: Facebook to Taylor Swift – we’ve got the bases covered

What a boring couple of days in the tech blogosphere but that didn’t stop Sean and myself from finding at least a couple of things to talk about, not to mention a few that we hadn’t planned on.

Even though Sean insisted on starting the show by dredging up images that are best left in the darkest recesses of the Internet we managed to survive and have a little bit of a talk about the iPad and how Canadians will never need more than 5GB a month while using this magical device – or at least that is what Rogers believes.

From there we ended up on the main topic of the night – Facebook and how the spin doctors are out in full force trying to convince intelligent people that they care about our privacy. All the while of course we are hearing about more breaches courtesy of their fancy new social plugins.

Now I’m not really sure how we got onto Betty White and Taylor Swift but we did and it was definitely more interesting that re-hashing Facebook crap.

Braindead TechCast EP59: Moronic Monday and a Robert Scoble image to sear the mind with

It the beginning of a new week and to help you make it through the doldrums of that Monday Sean and I are pleased to bring your yet another edition of our world famous Moronic Monday’s show. Well okay maybe not world famous but definitely a show filled with some prime moronic nuttiness.

And what can be a nuttier way to start of than an online dating service exclusively for Apple fans. Yup you Macheads now have your own dating service so now you will have one less reason to rub elbows with the unclean masses.

Then when you didn’t think it could get any nuttier along comes the moronic puff piece of news that the Android is outselling the iPhone. Too bad no-one writing these posts even bothered to use their brains to figure out exactly why this was happening – which definitely isn’t the reasons everyone is hyping.

Then finally we tackle the most moronic of our stories tonight with a look back on a Robert Scoble post from the weekend. We were doing fine right up until Sean instilled the most horrifying of mental images in my mind at which point I called him a prick and ran for the bleach and wire scrub brush (it didn’t work).

Braindead TechCast EP58: Techmeme Friday and The Patent Lawsuit Roadshow

Gotta love Friday’s because not is it the day before the weekend but it is also time for Techmeme Friday’s – the day of the week where Sean and I take time to go over the headlines at Techmeme at the time when we hit the record button.

This week is much improved over last week with more than just Apple to talk about plus our favorite blogger with his own theme song finally shows back up on Techmeme with not just one headline but two.

Oh and Sean and I already claim Silence of the Lambs as the next Twitter movie idea.

Some of the headlines we talked about

Nokia sues Apple in Wisconsin for infringement of Nokia patents – Nokia
Zynga Gunning Up (And Lawyering Up) For War Against Facebook With Zynga Live – TechCrunch
iPad Available in Nine More Countries on May 28 – Apple
Rivals are invading its patch, but Nintendo is ready to go to war – Times of London

Braindead TechCast EP57: Verizon kills its Kin

Yes folks the world did come to and end last night which is why there was no show yesterday. Well actually real life decided that it would be a good time to mess with both Sean and I and didn’t decide to play nice until it was pretty well too late to do a show. Never fear though we are back tonight in full form.

We start off discussing the news that the pricing for the new Microsoft KIN’s was released today and then promptly slaughtered by Verizon as it announced how much it was going to cost to actually use the KIN on a regular basis. Talk about short-sighted.

Sean pouted at this point because he found out that he wasn’t seeing the incredibly wonderfully redesigned Google search results page but I was. It’s okay he’ll get over it.

Finally we poked some fun at Facebook for a security hole that under certain circumstances let people see other peoples live chats. DUH!

Braindead TechCast EP56: Moronic Monday where Sean waxes poetically about farts

The only saving grace in the fact that it’s the beginning of yet another week is that it is also Moronic  Mondays which is when Sean and I look back over the past week and pick out some of the more moronic things that we have run across.

To be sure, last week didn’t disappoint. After all what else can you call a Twitter hoodie that lets flash your Twitter state of mind to everyone around you. Or how about a chicken burger USB hub whether the only thing you need to bring is your own mayo.

Then of course we have the shaving cell phone that can go along with your moss necklace. Not to be out done though one can’t forget the great fart blanket that is being proclaimed as the ultimate saver of marriages.
