Ah yes. It’s Friday, the end of the week, the beginning of the weekend which means that it is time once again for – Techmeme Friday.

This is the night where Sean and I go through the Techmeme headlines at the time when we hit the record button and scoff, make fun of and generally disparage said headlines.

Some of the Techmeme headlines that were sacrificed for tonight’s show

  • Tab Candy: Making Firefox Tabs Sweet – Aza on Design
  • Samsung offering Galaxy S phones to frustrated iPhone users – Wired
  • India shows $35 ‘iPad’ prototype – BBC News
  • A New Way To Embed YouTube Videos – YouTube
  • Most iPhone users love AT&T – Fortune
  • Mac Pro Unavailable for In-Store Reservations at Many Locations – MacRumors
  • Apple Delaying White iPhone 4 So It Can Fix The Antenna Problem? – Silicon Alley Insider

Just as the sun will set each night and rise in the morning so to shall Techmeme Friday. We don’t care if the only thing on Techmeme is Apple because it seems to be like that every day now. No, we would not let our faithful listeners down by abdicating our responsibility in ripping Techmeme asunder.

So without any further ado here are some of the headlines that got us started.

  • Apple to give away free cases to iPhone 4 users – Engadget
  • Deeper understanding with Metaweb – The Official Google Blog
  • San Mateo D.A. Withdraws Controversial Gizmodo iPhone Warrant – EFF
  • Apple’s $100 Million iPhone Test Chamber – Gizmodo
  • Introducing The Boxee Box, Bringing Web Video To Your Television – Silicon Valley Insider
  • The Pioneer Behind @ComcastCares, Frank Eliason, Resigns – ReadWriteWeb

While I am sure that Apple loves nothing better than owning the tech news cycle but I doubt very much that Jobs and company are overly happy with the whole iPhone 4 mess at this point.

However before we jump into the meat of the show Sean and I do tackle a couple of other interesting stories. For example – studying fruit fly brains to help create better robots.

Of course the show wouldn’t be complete without a look at the fantastic job being done by Old Spice in setting a new standard for social media style marketing.

Post referred to in the show

  • Fast thinking flies to help build better robots – GizMag
  • Total Recall Or Total Bull? Some Perspective On The iPhone 4 Antenna Frenzy – TechCrunch
  • IPhone 4 Recall? Get a Grip! – Digital Daily
  • iPhone4 Recall Imminent? Probably Not. – The Next Web
  • Apple Deletes Thread About Consumer Reports Not Recommending An iPhone [Updated] – Techdirt
