With the proliferation of blogs of all types came the rise of RSS feeds like never before. It seems that you can’t turn anywhere without seeing those little orange icons that indicate that an RSS feed is available for the site.
And with advocates like Robert Scoble singing the praises of the medium where ever they go you get the impression that if a site doesn’t offer an RSS feed then they have no business being on the web – especially if they are a company of any type.
However with his latest post – Windows Vista blog, form over function – he re-iterates his feeling that RSS feeds trump website design. Which leads me to wonder if the RSS evangelists are nothing more than snobs.
The impression I get from him; and other’s like him, is that we should all just slip back to the day of Lynx and live in the world of RSS, podcasts and videocasts. One advantage to that is at least we wouldn’t have to put up with the incessant browser oneupmanship crap
.
