Off Topic: The Artform of DJ’s

DJ Tiesto Live - click for larger view With today being one of those silly ass Civic holidays we have here in Canada I decided to take some time and chill out watching some video concerts of some of my favorite music and it was during watching DJ Tiesto recorded live that I realized something.

I have always like DJ’s like him and could appreciate what a talent it must take to reach the top level of the profession; but as I watched him perform I also realized that DJ’s like Tiesto, Van Dyk, Oakenfold and Moby have a deep appreciation for music of all types. They have a knowledge of how all these different types of music can be blended together and reach a basic part of our souls – making us an integral part of the experience.

If you don’t think so then I suggest putting aside what ever preconceived notions you might have of DJ’s and the music and watch them as they perform their craft – watch the people as they feel the music. It is an art form at its best.

Hey, like this post? Why not share it with a buddy?

    Steven, I had no idea you had such good taste in music too!

    I’ve seen Tiesto in concert twice, Paul Oakenfold and Moby on one occasion each. Other concert highlights include Depeche Mode (2x), Crystal Method, The Chemical Brothers and Underworld (2x)

    Louis;

    Not bad for a 50 year old eh :) .. I’ve been listening to techno, european House, trance before it was even mainstream.

    Back to the days of Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream Wollenwieder and Tomita with the occasional Synergy thrown in.

    But that has never stopped me from liking early Deep Purple (Child in Time is a classic IMO), Flash and the Pan and Traffic.

    One of these days I should put up my current music folder listing for laughs … Now you’ll have to excuse me I have the Gregorian Masters of Chant queued up to watch :)
