My women of the Web

thumbs-up As part of making up my list of people I want to be a part of my “10 Questions” interview series (which will be returning this month) I realized that there were more women making up the list than men.

Sure we all know who Kara Swisher is or that the cupcake queen is Marissa Meyer but for the most it seems that when it comes to the tech field and social media it is the guys that get all the attention.

So I figured I’d pass along some of the women rockstars that are out there because if you aren’t reading them; or following them on Twitter you are missing out.

Marketing

HPC – Otherwise known as Tara Hunt (Twitter)
Michelle’s Blog – Michelle Greer (Twitter)
Liz Strauss / Successful Blog(gers) – Liz Strauss (Twitter)
Marketing Mystic – Mia Dand (Twitter)

Social Media

Altitude Branding – Amber Naslund (Twitter)
Penelope Trunk (Twitter)
Suze Muse (Twitter)

Technology

 Profy – Svetlana Gladkova
Go2WEB20 – Orli Yakuel (Twitter)
SheGeeks – Corvida Raven (Twitter)

And just because you should

Sex and the 405 (Twitter) – this isn’t the most work safe blog but it is definitely interesting or as their tagline goes “What your newspaper would look like
if it had a sex section.”. While there are a couple of men of the staff roster the majority of writers are women.

Cleavage – Kelly Diels (Twitter) – while those with tender sensibilities (read no sense of ha-ha) might not like Kelly’s writing I look forward to each of her posts.

This list could go on and on and on and…

But some quick ones to think about: http://www.identitywoman.net/ and http://sunshinemug.blogspot.com/ are must adds.

You are right and I really hope people do add to the list as I am always on the look out for more good blogs (women or men) to add to FeedDemon

Great list, and I’m already following most of them. Thanks for the other suggestions.

Steven, thank you for building the list and sharing it with your readers. I myself tend to think that women do not really deserve any special treatment online because it is actually easier to get noticed in technology for women simply because there are less of us in the industry – and I really can’t imagine you publishing the same list for men instead of women actually – but it is still a pleasure to see us noticed in this manner :) Thank you!

Thanks for the mention, Steve! Much appreciated. You’ve captured some of my favorite bloggers on your list and I look forward to checking out the others as well.

MisterEleven…Your pathetic use of humor is wasted, though I’d imagine you are perpetually 11 years old and will always find it funny. It’s amazing how little you pay attention to a person’s content when you are only concerned with their looks. Grow up, get a life, a clue, and a sense of what is appropriate. These women, as are the men, are blogging and tweeting rational and meaningful thoughts. Not random uncontrolled prepubescent comments. You are really missing out.

    Nice post. And nice list.
Going to Twitter now to read some tweets of those wonderful ladies.
Can’t imagine what’s wrong and why Dennis Marcus is so down…

Sorry to all those that have to now read my rambling! There was a post removed that I had originally responded to where some guy, ‘MisterEleven’ was being extremely childish in his comments and degrading towards the blogs of these excellent women! Steven has put together a fine list of people to follow, while there are of course many more this list hits on some of the best.
