Friend Connect: What now Google?

friend Look Google I realize that you have gotten your panties all in a twist about this social media thing and are hoping that your Hail Mary with Buzz is the answer you’ve been looking for.

However I have a question for you.

What the hell am I suppose to do with all this Friend Connect stuff you were pushing on us bloggers a while back?

You know. That fancy little sidebar gadget in my left hand sidebar area. Ya, that one. Is there even any purpose to it anymore? Do you plan at some time on unifying all this crap?

I’m more than willing to go through this colicky period with you when it comes to Buzz as it’s the new baby on the block because I think you might be onto something. However it would be nice to know what we are suppose to do with this Friend Connect stuff. Are we investing our time and blog space for some other Google product that is going to go away at some point?

Like I’ve cruised through some of the goodies you have for Friend Connect and they look pretty cool. In fact I’d be more than willing to drop the Facebook crap on my other blog and move everything over to Friend Connect except I’m not sure if I’d be wasting my time or not.

So how about some clarification Google. Give us an idea of whether this is just a waste of time or if you are going to pull all these different social media efforts together at some point.

Please.

As far as I can see the only thing that friend connect does at the moment, is ensure that you can’t unsubscribe for the blogs that you follow. Any of the “blogger” blogs (and perhaps others) that I have “connected” with are permanently in my Google Reader and I can’t unsubscribe from them unless I unconnect.
