FeedDemon to release a pay version?

With all the news surround NewsGator’s announce about dropping a bunch of their RSS related services I came across an interesting little bit of information on the NewsGator Daily Blog. Hidden away in the announcement by J.B. Holston, CEO and President of NewsGator, was this little gem

Why ads in the consumer applications?  We are heading toward two versions – those with ads and forthcoming for-pay versions without ads.  We feel that the quality of the apps is such that these are fair deals.  We hope you’ll agree.

If this is indeed the case and they will be releasing a pay version of FeedDemon I will give them a high five because FeedDemon is one of my favorite programs and I wouldn’t want to work as a blogger without it – and I want to pay for it. I only hope that they realize that not everyone has credit cards and will make sure that other payment methods are supported.

Yes I could keep using the free version that is ad supported, and really the ads feedDemondon’t bother me, but the way I look at it is that I use this program every single day of the week – non-stop pretty well – and it is worth paying for. It is also in my opinion a way to say thank you to Nick for his constant improving of a great program and as an encouragement to keep doing that.

I also think that it’s interesting that not even a year after going to an ad supported format for FeedDemon that NewsGator is return to a hybrid approach that includes a pay version.

I really hope this happens. I paid for an earlier version of FeedDemon & I'd quite happily pay to upgrade to the next full version upgrade

I, too, paid for an earlier version of FeedDemon because I thought, at the time, they had the best offering.

And now, because I'm an “individual” as opposed to “big corporate” I'm getting shafted.

If they dump on their loyal customers, there's no way I will spend any more money with them.

    Steve
