I guess some sort of introduction is in order especially since that is what I’ve been told this page is for.
Folks commonly call me Steven, my wife calls me many names and some are even nice
and I have been involved with the computer industry in one fashion or another for the better part of 20 years. My first real involvement began when I setup up my first Bulletin Board Service (BBS) using Maximus. That was back when any coding was done with your favorite text editor and lots of coffee.
Between then and now I have studied for my A+ certification, built countless computers, programmed for a living; both as a freelancer and as a hire, and now I find myself sharing my thoughts on the technological world around us.
WinExtra first started out 7 years ago as a set of NNTP newsgroups for the rejects and cast-offs from the old Lockergnome newsgroups. During that time of struggle to keep things afloat I met an incredible number of people many of whom have become close friends. Then about a year ago during some personal financial difficulties I had to move the newsgroups to a hosted web forum and thankfully many of the newsgroup members made the transition with me and for that I am thankful because without them it wouldn’t have been the same.
It was also at that point that I took blogging seriously and began buckling down – learning as much as could about the whole blogosphere thing. That isn’t to say that I am not still learning – far from it. Everyday is a great learning experience and even on the days when I don’t feel like doing a damn thing I still find the joy to write.
Some folks may like what I have to say and that is great; other folks may not and think I’m an idiot. Well that’s cool to – we’re all entitled to our opinions but equally so don’t be reluctant to tell me why because who knows maybe I’ll learn something new.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find enough things of interest to keep you coming back.
I would also like to take a moment to thank the most important person in my life; without whom I would not be able to do everything I am. With the utmost heart felt love and appreciate all my working in this blogging world couldn’t be done without the love and understanding of my wife Kim – thank you my love from the bottom of my heart and souls.
