One thing about being a professional blogger is that it can take up a lot of time – sometimes too much time – out of one’s day. We get all wrapped up in trying to write the latest post, research the next and just try to keep up with the never-ending flow of information.

Sometimes we become oblivious to those around us and our families sometimes begin to feel like fifth wheels and we need to be reminded that there is a world beyond our monitors and Internet connections. Having a family that understands this is a rare treasure and I must admit I am one of those lucky guys.

Kim, my wife of 16 years now, is my treasure who has more than once not let me quit because she believes more in me and my dreams more than I do sometimes. She shows it many ways everyday but there are times when she surprises even me after all these years, much like when she came up with the re-decoration idea for my office and then helped pull it altogether.

Today was another one of those surprise moments when she came home with a new office chair for me. While it isn’t new new it might as well be considering the condition of it. It’s an early Christmas present and given with all the love of a woman who believes in her husband and wants him to be as comfortable as possible while he works.
